Jaguar-Biodiversity & Social Art Project

Folks all over Arizona, Mexico, the Amazon and beyond are lending their hands and creative spirits while "Sewing Spots Together". This is a project initiated by the artist with the help of the Southwest Chapter for the Defenders of Wildlife and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. It is a hugely looooooooong mixed-recycled-media tapestry that showcases the plight of the northern jaguar as well the wie variety of life that is found throughout its range. The work is a traveling exhibit that grows six more feet for every group that adds a section. To find out how you or your group can be part of the wild fun or to become an exhibition space, please contact Stephanie.

Save the Longfin Eel of New Zealand!

Stephanie is currently working with biologists in New Zealand to create a children's book on the endangered, New Zealand long finned eel in order to help save these amazing, long-lived, endemic fish and their freshwater ecosystems.  She has put together an outreach program that uses art to teach the science of eel conservation and is tookit to schools and communities in New Zealand in 2011. Together, a mixed-media and recycled fabric eel with fresh an saltwater life all around her has been created. Velvet the eel is now about 80 meters long and growing as she migrates around NZ on display. It is not too late to add to this taniwha eel. If you are interested in creating a piece to have added on and/or would like to display the tapestry, please contact Stephanie.
